Silvina got her start in the real estate industry in the area of mortgage finance. Over the years she found that her clients were relying on her not only for mortgage advice, they were increasingly asking for advice on the homes they were considering buying or selling. They wanted to know about neighborhoods, room layout, and functionality. They asked for decorating advice and contractor referrals. Silvia was happy to help and it got to the point where her mortgage clients were saying things like “you’ve spent more time with me on this than my real estate agent” and “thanks so much for caring”.

Over time, Silvina grew to realize that many of the people she spoke with were being woefully underserved in what was the largest and most impactful transaction of their lives. That’s when she decided to leave the mortgage world to help home buyers and sellers full-time.

After a few years as a general agent, Silvina ended up working with a past client who was the executor of her mother’s estate. It was a complex transaction, with siblings at war, a hidden lien that had to be settled, and a cluttered home in a state of extreme disrepair. In the end, Silvina facilitated getting the home cleaned out, and some repairs made (with a tiny budget). She directed the photography and ad copy to present the home in its best light – and the home ended up selling for $33,000 over the asking price within twelve days. She even helped settle the lien, saving the heirs over $14,000.

A mental light bulb clicked on…

While all real estate work involves helping people, Silvia found this probate transaction to be both challenging and personally rewarding. It’s a special privilege to be able to help people in their extreme times of need. Silvina decided to refine her real estate practice to focus on guiding people most in need during trying times.
